I am a Certified Management Consultant and have some 30 years of diverse business experience, including senior leadership roles in the consulting field and in industry.

After holding sales, marketing and general management positions in the scientific equipment field and then in manufacturing, I started a Saskatoon-based executive search firm in 1986. Four years later, I was recruited by KPMG Consulting and moved to Calgary. As a Principal with KPMG, I oversaw the executive search, compensation and general consulting aspects of their local HR practice. I also gained valuable experience in operational reviews and value for money audits.

In 1999 I joined Collins Barrow Calgary, Chartered Accountants and Consultants, as Director of HR. My appointment to the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer followed shortly afterward. As the COO, I led operational and strategic planning, HR, IT, internal accounting, administration and marketing functions.

In 2003, I decided to return to my consulting roots and established Dovetail Partners.

The firm's name was inspired by my hobby as a woodworker. In woodworking the dovetail joint is the hallmark of fine craftsmanship. It is a method of joining pieces together that provides exceptional strength and durability.

That is the same kind of strong, lasting relationship I want to develop with clients - one that links us together as we move toward the achievement of goals.

Pardon the pun, but I think the name is a great fit. Incidentally, another way of connecting wood is called a butt joint. For obvious reasons, that option got scratched off the list very quickly.
